My Favorite Christmas Present

Sometimes it is so easy to jump from celebrating Christmas to getting ready for the new year. The tree and decorations are put away until next year and then we all strive to make new years resolutions and plans for the new year. 

Like most people at the end of a year I look forward to what the new year is going to bring, but I often find myself looking back just as often. I enjoy reliving the memories of that year and being reminded of how blessed I am. This last year has been a year for growing for many of my family members. There were, fun times, hard times, and in between times. 

Christmas is about giving and the gift God gave us through Jesus Christ. This year my favorite present was one that I was able to give. My parents are some of the most incredible people I know. They have loved us kids unconditionally through all the growing pains and life. Yes we fight -sometimes- but more then that, we laugh, love, and live through this adventure we call life and we do it together! I love my family more than anything else in the world. They are my best friends and sometimes my worst. But there is nothing better than family! 

Last year I was determined to take family pictures of my own family. In a photographers world we take so many pictures of other families, events, and life, that our own sometimes gets overlooked. But this was the year. I was going to get my family together for pictures! And I did! We had a fun time with our shoot and goofed off quite a bit in between shots and during the shots. You wouldn't believe how frustrating it can be to take your own family pictures and keep them focused and happy. ;-) 

As a gift to my parents I bought my mom and dad a framed canvas print of the family -minus my older brother who could not be here for the picture. Love you John, you will be in the next one!

We all love the print and found a prominent place on the wall for all of us to enjoy it! I cannot encourage you enough, if you have had pictures of any kind taken this past year.
