I donned my brothers gully suit and slathered some face paint across my hands to hide my very white winter skin. This was a special day! I had been to the shoot location the day before to meet with the client and to clear away the brush and leaves from where I would set up for the shot.
I was excited and my heart was racing as the time for the shoot came and I hunkered down close to a fallen log, hiding my position from the view of anyone walking by the forest path. I was very aware of the cold wet earth near my face and the hot humid sun beating down on my back. As I wait by the tree for the clients to walk by, thousands of thoughts went through my mind. I felt like I was on a hunting trip waiting for the wildlife to pass by. Only this was much better because I knew about the time they were to be there and knew that they were definitely going to pass by. Please just don't let her see me I prayed as I heard their laughter and footsteps coming through the woods.
As they passed by and the man led the girl to the location we had cleared the day before. I slowly stood up to get a clear shot but also stay hidden. She didn't suspect a thing let alone dream that not even 100 yards away hidden in the trees was a photographer capturing this entire life changing event.
Jeremy and Jill live in different states across the country from each other. After telling Jill that he was going to be flying to Japan for work Jeremy surprised her and showed up at her door the very night he was supposed to be in Japan. Mid way through his visit they came to the woods in Dauphin where he grew up so he could "show her his old stomping grounds." Little did she know what was coming next.
I snapped away taking picture as Jeremy got down on one knee and asked Jill to marry him. It always seems so long to me as I watch her reaction and wait for the small nod or exclamation of YES!!! And say yes she did!!!
Pictures say everything better then I ever could, so without further delay here are their proposal pictures! Congratulations Jeremy and Jill!!!
